Pedestrians Priority
Where: At the entrance to zones intended primarily for pedestrians, such as pedestrian malls, plazas, or certain residential or commercial areas. These areas are designed to limit motor vehicle traffic while allowing safe movement for people on foot.
Purpose: To give priority to pedestrians, ensuring they can move safely without interference from regular traffic, and to restrict vehicle access to emergency vehicles, vehicles loading or offloading goods, and maintenance vehicles only, maintaining a safe and controlled environment.
Action Required by Driver: If you are driving an authorized vehicle (emergency, loading/unloading, or maintenance), proceed with caution and adhere to a maximum speed of 15 km/h. Always give priority to pedestrians who are crossing or intending to cross the road.
- Loading and offloading — use only designated areas marked by road traffic signs; no other vehicles are allowed to enter the pedestrian priority area.
- Stay alert — watch for pedestrian movement in all directions and be prepared to stop immediately if necessary.
